We are Lente and Bascha IJntema, twin sisters and the founders of Transformatter. Ever since we were children, we have been builders of objects, connections and stories. We’ve always been drawn to ordinary people with extraordinary stories and the objects they hold.

At Transformatter, we see objects as more than things to use or own. Their materials, marks and imperfections hold traces of the lives they’ve lived. Even when their original purpose comes to an end, their story doesn’t have to.

We collect objects with a past and transform them into design pieces, each accompanied by a memory keeper: a book capturing the object’s origins and stories, with space for you to continue its journey.

For us, transformation is about more than reusing materials or giving something a new shape. It’s about discovering what is worth carrying forward. Through thoughtful design, an object can find a new purpose while preserving its connection to the past.

We believe that what already exists holds value, and that we have enough objects in this world, which deserve a new look. So every object gets the chance to become part of a new story.
